ANTIQUE HAND EMBROIDERED White Paisley SHAWL 1860'S
Fantastic natural linsey-woolsey paisley shawl with hand embroidery at each end and the edges. The ends have three tall purple and fuchsia sharp floral designs. The edges are similar but have a touch of bright blue. This is in MINT condition and has no moth or any flaws at all. It measures 72 x 31 ½.
This is one of many pieces that were purchased by L.V. Collings, Vice-President, and General Counsel, of the Standard Vacuum Oil company (now ESSO) in the 1950s. He and his wife traveled extensively in the Orient and Asia, bringing back many antiques and textiles.
